February 2017toJuly 2022
Delivr was a regional food-delivery logistics platform founded by Alex while he was still at university in Australia. What began as a small, locally focused startup quickly evolved into a serious competitor to global giants like Uber Eats, Deliveroo, and Menulog in regional Victoria. Instead of trying to outspend international players, Delivr was built on a lean, practical model that prioritized strong relationships with local restaurants, efficient logistics, and a deep understanding of the communities it served.
Operating without any external funding, the company grew steadily through disciplined execution and word-of-mouth adoption. Delivr focused on markets that were often overlooked by larger platforms, giving regional restaurants access to delivery infrastructure and new revenue streams. This local-first approach allowed the business to gain traction quickly, build loyalty among partners, and establish itself as a trusted brand in the areas it operated.
Over five years, Delivr generated more than $6 million in revenue, all while remaining bootstrapped. The company proved that a small, determined team could build a meaningful, high-revenue technology business without venture capital, even in a space dominated by well-funded international competitors.
In 2022, rising operational costs and shifting market conditions made the model unprofitable for the first time in the company’s history. Rather than operate at a loss, Alex made the decision to wind the business down.
While Delivr ultimately closed, it remains a defining chapter in his entrepreneurial journey, demonstrating his ability to identify opportunities, build products from scratch, compete against global incumbents, and generate substantial revenue with limited resources.
